Out of the Darkness

Before God spoke there was darkness,
Darkness over the deep,
When He spoke it was marvelous,
The day burst forth from speech.

Then God placed man in the Garden,
Adam would fall in sin,
But God promised him an Offspring,
And darkness would not win.

The Saving Seed would be conceived,
From dark womb to the cross,
In dark of day He was betrayed,
He was cursed for the lost.

They placed Him in a cold dark tomb,
But He would shine again,
Out of the darkness He would rise;
To conquer death and sin!

He brings us out of the darkness,
Out of the dark to life,
He brings us out of the darkness,
Day breaks away from night.

Behind the Lines

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:3-4 ESV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:1-5 ESV)

God has a history of separating light from darkness. May “The Light of the World” shine through these words. May He continue to take cold dark hearts and separate them from sin, death, and darkness.

  1. Timothy,

This is so wonderful how God brings us into His Light and separates us from Darkness. You did a good job explaining this. It is so good to wake up each morning and see the light of a new day. Praise the name of JESUS.
