Goodnight, Snow White

I kissed Snow White goodnight,
Then tucked her into bed.
I left a hug on her cheek,
And this is what she said,
“Goodnight, my handsome prince,”
Goodnight, Snow White.

I woke Snow White from her sleep,
Then helped her out of bed.
I gave to her a morning hug,
And this is what she said,
“Good morning, Sweet Daddy,”
Good morning, Snow White.

I left Snow White to go to work,
Where I labored to get paid,
And as I focused on my tasks,
I thought about what she might say,
“Good job, hardworking Daddy,”
Thank you, Snow White.

Snow White had her school routine,
Where she wrote and she read,
Then off she danced to ballet class,
Where mom drove her there and said,
“Dance well, Snow White,”
“I will, Mommy.”

I left my work to get Snow White,
And battled the traffic ahead.
While I was fighting through,
Her words popped in my head,
“Good morning, Sweet Daddy,”
Good morning, Snow White.

I finally rescued Snow White,
But she would have stayed instead,
For she loved to dance and dance,
And this is what she said,
“Thank you for getting me,”
You’re welcome, Snow White.

We returned safely home,
And I told her, Time for bed.
I left a hug on her cheek,
And this is what she said,
“Goodnight, my handsome prince,”
Goodnight, Snow White.

Behind the lines
