Child of Grace

Merry Christmas! Below is a Christmas Carol I wrote two years ago and thought I would share again.

The angels praised the Child of Grace,
From old, in wonders of glory,
Then they appeared with voices clear,
To tell shepherds their story.
For the Christ, the Lord, He has come,
He has been born in Bethlehem,
O hear! Please hear! This is the One,
This Child is the Son of God.

The shepherds praised the Child of Grace,
When they found Him in a manger,
Then they explained what they had seen,
Words, Mary’s heart would treasure.
His hands, those hands, have weighed mountains,
His voice made stars by the thousands,
O sleep, in peace, dear sleepy One,
This Child is the Son of God.

And now we praise the Child of Grace,
Who grew in strength and wisdom,
His righteousness would be His gift,
To those He came to ransom.
What Grace! This Grace! Death to taste,
On the cross where our sins were placed,
O Praise!…

Take Your Seat

Jesus rise and join the Father,
Fly and claim what is yours,
No more wrath and no more sorrow,
No more shame to endure,
Sin and death – go down in defeat,
So take your seat, take your seat.

Jesus rise and receive your crown,
Fashioned for Heaven’s Best,
No cruel thorns upon your brow,
No man-made clothes for dress,
Satan’s beat – wear the Victor’s wreath,
And take your seat, take your seat.

Jesus rise to heavenly heights,
Parade beyond our dreams,
Nothing compares, no greater sight,
No reunion the same,
Oh, to see – Son and Father greet,
“Son, take your seat, take your seat.”

Behind the lines

The victorious spectacle and heavenly reunion of the Triune God after the ascension:

Acts 1:9) And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10) And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11) and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Come quickly, Lord Jesus. Amen!

The Blood Dripped

The blood dripped on the broken ground,
It covered the sand and stones,
With each drop the earth trembled,
And the Son of Man groaned.

The blood dripped and the dust was stirred,
Moved by Great Weight and the Wind,
The dust was blown away by Love,
For this Man had never sinned.

The blood dripped as the flies gathered,
To drink from the Son of God,
Their feet washed by His royalty,
A foretaste of what’s to come.

The blood dripped as He breathed His last,
Under the darkened sky,
Then it flowed down the metal spear,
Mixed with water from His side.

The blood dripped on the rough cut wood,
Made for murderers and thieves,
The tree without roots would bear fruit,
Nourished by the Prince of Peace.

The blood dripped, the blood dripped,
From the Son of God…

Behind the lines

Hebrews 9:22…without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Crying Out

Waiting, we’ve waited so long,
When, when will You come?
We’re crying out, crying out,
We’re waiting for You.

Angels, presents, gold and myrrh,
Born, she gives Him birth,
He’s crying out, crying out,
Savior of the World.

Prophets, and God’s promises,
John, He comes at last,
He’s crying out, crying out,
For the Holy One.

Perfect, Savior without sin,
Ours, were placed on Him,
He’s crying out, crying out,
On a cross of love.

Risen, He lives, life He gives,
Go, tell of His gift,
We’re crying out, crying out,
Until He returns.

Waiting, we’ve waited so long,
When, when will You come?
We’re crying out, crying out,
We’re waiting for You.

Together

Together we come to worship,
With our hearts united in Christ,
Walking the path to forever,
Together we carry His light.

In love, we stir one another,
And work through our sin and our hurts,
Walking the path to forever,
The Groom leads the bride and His church.

Together we journey in grace,
Steps of faith through joy and sadness,
Walking the path to forever,
Narrow, but filled with His kindness.

Come let us serve Him together,
With talents and gifts that we bring,
Walking the path to forever,
As we praise our great God and King.

Together we come to worship,
With our hearts united in Christ,
Walking the path to forever,
Together we carry His light.

Behind the lines

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:23-25 ESV)

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. (Philippians 2:1-4 ESV)

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:12-17 ESV)

Habakkuk’s Song

LORD, here I stand in awe of You,
I’ve heard the report of Your fame,
In Your wrath remember mercy,
And revive the fear of Your name.

Your splendor reigns in the heavens,
Creation is full of Your praise,
Your brightness outshines ev’ry sun,
And Your flames dance like solar rays.

LORD, grant me a right perspective,
May I trust in Your sovereign plans,
The righteous live by faith in You,
And salvation is in Your hands.

Your judgment will come like a plague,
When You rise the nations shiver,
Mountains will break and then scatter,
And the earth will shake and quiver.

Though the fig tree never blossoms,
Though there is no fruit on the vine,
Even when the flocks have perished,
And there is no food I can find…

Yet, I will rejoice in You, LORD,
You are my hope through Your justice,
I will sing of Your salvation,
And rejoice in Your righteousness!
