The Blood Dripped

jesus-2437571_1920

The blood dripped on the broken ground,
Covering the sand and stones,
With each drop the earth trembled,
And the Son of Man groaned.

The blood dripped and the dust was stirred,
Moved by Great Weight and the Wind,
The dust was blown away by Love,
For this Man had never sinned.

The blood dripped as the flies gathered,
To drink from the Son of God,
Their feet washed by His royalty,
A foretaste of what’s to come.

The blood dripped as He breathed His last,
Under a darkened sky,
Then it flowed down the metal spear,
Mixed with water from His side.

The blood dripped on the rough cut wood,
Made for murderers and thieves,
The tree without roots would bear fruit,
Nourished by the Prince of Peace.

The blood dripped, the blood dripped,
From the Son of God…

Hebrews 9:22…without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

By The Blood Of The King

art-2092530_1920

The sin of Adam was passed on to me,
Debt handed down from a long family tree,
I was bankrupt working for the things of men,
Earning the payment for the wages of sin.

But Christ paid my debt at Calvary,
I was bought by the blood of the King,
Chosen in love, adopted and redeemed,
I was bought by the blood of the King.

An inheritance was given to me,
I’m sealed with the Spirit, my guarantee,
I’m an heir with Christ, but so undeserving,
No longer bound by sin, yet I’m still struggling.

This inheritance for sinners like us,
Brothers and sisters in the family of God,
And we were once dead, but now we’re alive,
Buried and raised with the Lord Jesus Christ.

For Christ paid our debt at Calvary,
We were bought by the blood of the King,
Chosen in love, adopted and redeemed,
We were bought by the blood of the King,
We were bought by the blood of the King,
We were bought by the blood – of the King.

Co-written with David Ennis, Drew Pearce, and Kevin Schultz.

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
(Galatians 4:4-7 ESV)

Clothed

law-1063249_1920

I was kneeling on holy ground,
Beneath the Judge’s stand,
They asked me where my clothes came from;
I pointed to the Lamb.

“My clothing comes from His sweet name,”
I spoke with trembling lips,
“I’m sorry about all the stains,”
O God of Righteousness.

“They happened when I saw His cross,
And gory nakedness,
That’s where He took my clothes away,
Then gave me these for dress.

He told me never to despair,
Or fear the dark abyss,
But I know these aren’t mine to wear,
I’ve earned a death like His.”

The gavel sounded in the Court,
As I knelt by the throne,
Wearing clothes I could not afford,
With stains that weren’t my own.

Behind the lines

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD;
my soul shall exult in my God,
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;
he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. (Isaiah 61:10 ESV)
