Hope

sunrise-1756274_1920

Lord, hear my prayer and preserve me,
Where is Your presence in this pain?
For I’m nothing apart from You,
You are my Hope in Sorrow’s grave.

You are my Hope, my only Hope,
You are my Hope, my only Hope,
My Portion for this day,
Shelter from sun and rain,
Joy through any pain,
My Hope beyond the grave.

Jesus, You are The Path of Hope,
You will never abandon me,
And all the problems in this life,
Will be lost in eternity.

When I lie down in the darkness,
Joy and pleasure will be complete,
When I see Your frightful beauty,
And find Hope at Your mercy seat.

You are my Hope, my only Hope,
You are my Hope, my only Hope,
You are my Hope, my only Hope,
You’re my only Hope.

Behind the lines

Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”

As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips.

The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.

I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16 ESV)

Pure

schafchen-1399439_1920

Are there any faithful?
Is there anyone good?
Everyone lies to their neighbor,
Is there not One that’s pure?

Will You stop their boasting,
Those that deceive the poor,
And remove their flattering tongues,
Will You arise, O LORD?

Hide us in Your safety,
Refresh us with Your Word,
Purify us through Your furnace,
Until You are adored.

Then guard us forever,
Keep watch on ev’ry side,
Lord, lead us from the world’s vileness,
Protect us from our pride.

Only You are faithful,
And You alone are good,
Only You can save us from sin,
For You alone are Pure.

Behind the lines

Save, O LORD, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.

Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak. May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts, those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?”

“Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”

The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.

You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever. On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man. (Psalm 12 ESV)

The Righteous

castle-2596885_1920

My safety is secure with Him,
Holiness flanked by cherubim,
His power guides the hands of time,
And when they stop, all will rewind.

My refuge is the coming Lord,
The Just, with eyes of flaming swords,
His eyes will pierce the souls of men,
And test their worthiness of Him.

My hope is in His sacrifice,
His resurrection, and His life,
He pleads for me upon His throne,
And bids me to come as His own.

My joy is sealed with Promises,
He hides me in His Righteousness,
And on the dreaded Judgment Day,
I will behold His lovely face.

Behind the lines

In the LORD I take refuge; how can you say to my soul, “Flee like a bird to your mountain, for behold, the wicked bend the bow; they have fitted their arrow to the string to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart; if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.

The LORD tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. Let him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.

For the LORD is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face. (Psalm 11 ESV)
