Longing

clouds-2709662_1920Citizens of heaven,
Pleading the same question,
“Jesus, when are You returning?”
Come display Your power,
In Your greatest hour,
Come Lord, we are longing.

The Spirit and Bride say, “Come, Lord,”
The Spirit and Bride say, “Come, Lord,”

It’s You, we’re longing for,
It’s You, we’re longing for,
It’s You, we’re longing for,
O Lord, we long for You.

Surely You are coming,
Glorious and stunning,
O Lord, please hear our cries.
Send the invitations,
For the great occasion,
Block the tears from heavenly eyes.

The Groom from the altar,
The Bride and the Father,
The marriage supper of the Lamb,
O Lord, come once again.

Behind the lines

If you are in Christ, your citizenship is in heaven. Not only that, you are also the Bride of Christ. May we long for Christ, His return, and The Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

Lord, “Send the invitations, for the great occasion.”

Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,

“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
the Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and his Bride has made herself ready;
it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—

for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
(Revelation 19:6-9 ESV)

Salvation

Open Bible rippedO Lord, I am feeble,
You have all power;
My years are like a breath.
But blood covers my sin,
With grace abounding;
Your Song now lives in me.

My hope is in You,
My faith is in You.

Great are You, Lord,
The Lamb and the Sword,
Great are You, Lord,
For salvation.

O Lord, like deer panting,
For Living Water,
My soul now thirsts for You.
With joy I desire You,
Your Word lifts my heart;
Your mercy marvels me.

O Lord, I sing praises,
With voice and music,
Salvation comes from You.
Yes, You are Salvation,
The Word so wondrous,
The Lamb who ransomed me.

Yours is the power,
Yours is the Kingdom,
Yours is salvation.

Behind the lines

How great is the salvation of the Lord? He takes feeble sinners and by his grace presents them righteous through the shedding of His own blood. Salvation is His to give and whom He calls will be changed by Him, will seek Him, and will rejoice in Him.

But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation
say continually, “Great is the LORD!”
(Psalm 40:16 ESV)

He is our joy, He is our hope, He is our Salvation. May we say continually, “Great is the LORD!”

Water

Water, drops of water,
Bringing life as they pour,
Start their journey toward the sea,
Then God lifts them once more.

Water, precious water,
Clean and pure like new snow,
Trickles from the Highest Mountain,
To the lowest of low.

Water, Calling Water,
Rushing rivers resound,
Singing out to weary travelers,
Whom Your mercy surrounds.

Power, Cleansing Power,
Surging currents of grace,
Will grind away the roughest rocks,
Leaving smooth ones in their place.

River, Mighty River,
Greatest river of all,
Started from Calvary’s Mountain,
Where Jesus’ blood did fall.

Written in Short Meter (6.6.8.6), this hymn takes us on a journey from drops of water to rushing rivers and on to the sea. It applies to how God’s grace flows to the weak and humble, the Holy Spirit’s effectual call and regenerative power, God’s mercy, baptism, Christ’s cleansing blood, and the resurrection when He will raise us to meet Him in the clouds.

We often take water for granted until we don’t have any. It is one of the most amazing acts of creation and brings us a visual of God’s grace and power. Water can bring refreshment, peace, and joy. Water can also bring to mind storms and fear. We often use it for recreation and relaxation.

Think of past vacations where water played a vital part of your trip.  Think of cold mountain streams, beautiful waterfalls, winding rivers, deep lakes and clear ocean waves touching sandy beaches.

May we have a deeper appreciation of  water and praise God for placing it abundantly on the earth.

One of my favorite vacations was to Niagara Falls in June of 2007. Do you have a favorite water destination?
