Water, drops of water,

Behind the lines

Written in Short Meter (6.6.8.6), this hymn takes us on a journey from drops of water to rushing rivers and on to the sea. It applies to how God’s grace flows to the weak and humble, the Holy Spirit’s effectual call and regenerative power, God’s mercy, baptism, Christ’s cleansing blood, and the resurrection when He will raise us to meet Him in the clouds.

We often take water for granted until we don’t have any. It is one of the most amazing acts of creation and brings us a visual of God’s grace and power. Water can bring refreshment, peace, and joy. Water can also bring to mind storms and fear. We often use it for recreation and relaxation.

Think of past vacations where water played a vital part of your trip.  Think of cold mountain streams, beautiful waterfalls, winding rivers, deep lakes and clear ocean waves touching sandy beaches.

May we have a deeper appreciation of  water and praise God for placing it abundantly on the earth.
